The Center for Hearing and Speech is celebrating 70 years with its annual fundraiser and street painting festival, HOUSTON VIA COLORI. VIA COLORI is one of Houston's largest and most well-known and well loved annual, art festivals held downtown in Houston's city center.
In its 12th year, VIA COLORI boasts an attendance of 30,000, three stages of live music, a delightful array of local food and beverage vendors, and award-winning street painters from all over the world.
The feature of this unique event, is more fantastic than we can explain in this article. A family friendly weekend turns a couple of streets downtown into 300 artists shared studio. Walk and be amazed with each step as you find yourself lost in live painting in action! Saturate yourself in creative energy and color!
"The attendance at the festival is just as diverse as the client population we serve. VIA COLORI is for everyone, and we want to make the world that accessible to our children," said Renée Davis, Executive Director of The Center for Hearing and Speech. "In the beginning, people were unclear about what a street art festival was. By year two the significance of the festival was clear. The artists enjoyed interacting with their peers and interfacing with the public. The public was astonished by the undeniable talent of the artists. The city embraced it."
VIA COLORI raises more than $400,000 annually to fund critical health and education services for local children with mild to profound hearing loss. Since its inception, VIA COLORI has raised a staggering $3,000,000 for the cause. WOW! How can one weekend do so much good? Easy, its fun, and exciting, and has become a tradition for many Houston families over these 12 years.
VIA COLORI is a 2-day festival beginning on Saturday, November 18 and ending on Sunday, November 19. General admission is $7 leading up to Via Colori and $10 at the door. Children under 18 and students with a valid college ID will receive free admission. The ticket price is good for both days of the festival.
